In the modern era of the church, mega-churches are very common. At the top of the food chain of those mega churches is always a celebrity pastor, as rich as Midas and entrenched in the hierarchy of his church as if he is embedded in epoxy resin. Control and the author of every final decision, “pastors” operate with a kind of feudal lordship over their pastorate.
Is that the biblical standard, or did Yahusha warn us away from having a single head, a “pastor”, specifically because men tend to want to accumulate power and control? Is the example given, whereby elders run the assembly, do most of the teaching and make most of the decisions, resorting to a vote among the assembly when there is a tie among the elders, the best way to manage a thriving church?
