There Is Nothing That Compares To The Power Of Truth

Last week I started teaching my sons from the Book of Matthew (Besorah Matityah, or “The Good News According to Matthew”).  Matityah (aka Matthew by the KJV translators/creators) is a very special book on the Word of Yahuah, because it teaches so many things.

One of the “things” that Matityah teaches which is quite remarkable is this: If you do not forgive your enemies, or those who have harmed you, Yahuah (“God” per the KJV translators) will not forgive you of your own sins.

These Words are from the very mouth of Yahusha.  Carve them onto your forehead… Continue reading “There Is Nothing That Compares To The Power Of Truth”

Love: The Best And Most Difficult Choice.

Through a glass, darkly.  That is how the best of us live, seeing our lives through the Holy Spirit (if saved and having turned from our disobedience to obedience) and filtering the truth through our human minds and emotions.

Until we are free from our physical, dirt-centric human vessels, we must endure the imperfect understanding we live with now.  As human beings, we can never walk as we will walk with Him in the next.

So we march along, sometimes smug in our status, sometimes shamed by our sin, always dealing with the contrast between our dirt foundation and the righteous perfect love made manifest by the Holy Spirit, who dwells within those who love Yahusha and obey His commands.

Like shape-shifting “aliens” (demons) with a broken “shift shape now” feature, we shift in appearance from darkness to light like a chameleon that changes colors from green to gray to brown to mottled black.  Not as the mood strikes per se, but as selfishness, lust, greed, hatred, judgement  and every other evil spirit taunts and tempts us.

Disobedience is is built-in.  Did you know that?  Yes it is.  We are genetically hard-wired to disobey Yahuah, and Paul instructs that if we live according to the flesh, we are going to die.  The flesh has a weakness in it, or a propensity to declare itself “god”.  We all deal with it.

“Rom 8:13  for if you live according to flesh, you are going to die. But if by the Spirit you put to death the practices of the body, you will live.

Further – Rom 8:3  For the Law being powerless, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and concerning sin, condemned sin in the flesh,

Sin, then, is part of our physical makeup.  Its built in, I suppose.  Not by Yahuah but by a 1000 generations of disobedience.  But then, Adam and Eve disobeyed His command, and they were made without sin until they chose to disobey Him.  Interesting and I am off topic.

Bear in mind that the adversary stood in front if Yahusha Himself and tempted Him.  If he can stand before Yahusha, he can and will seek to own you, too.  Be mindful.

We live in a dwelling of dirt, but soon we will live in the light.  That day is coming, and most of us will walk the earth until the moment the change comes.  We will see it.  We will watch it born in this world.  You, me, our children – the hour is descending upon mankind like the light of the orbiting sun brings glory to the morning.

In my life I have done almost every evil thing.  I have hated, lusted, lied, been bitter, resentful, jealous, envied, drunk with hatred for the good.  Although the difference between that man and this one is immeasurable, still I wear this dirt.

My journey into the Word that began a year or two ago, taking me through Torah and the understanding that Yahuah deeply loves those who hold to His commands has taught me that obedience to Him is impossible.

Not that His standards are unreachable.  In fact, we can easily comply with all of His instructions.  The problem is that we don’t really want to comply.  The fault, you see, is ours.

1Jn 4:8  The one who does not love has not known God, because God is love.

The greatest command, the one that truly defines our worship, is love.  If we do not love those who are most wicked, we completely miss the message of Yahusha.  It is easy to love people who love us.  In fact, loving people who love us makes every day like the Sabbath day – restful, easy, comfortable and sweet.

Loving the people who hate us, who spitefully use us, looking out for their best interest, serving them with kindness – this is our calling.  This is who we are to be, glorifying Lord and Son Yahusha.  He was always merciful, even when he wrecked the money changers in the Temple.  He fulfilled before them the prophecy that the coming Meshiach would be filled with zeal for the Temple.

(7) Because for Your sake I have borne reproach; Dishonor has covered my face. (8) I have become estranged from my brothers and an alien to my mother’s sons. (9) For zeal for Your house has consumed me, And the reproaches of those who reproach You have fallen on me.

When we are called by Yahuah, we are called to life, but that path to life runs straight through the valley of the shadow of death.  We are called to walk through this darkness, though filled with the good light of Yahuah.  And we walk that path of sorrows in our dirt suit.  Truly we are pitiful creatures if there is no Savior, foolishly loving the haters and encouraging others to love those who persecute them.  What fools we are if there is no Truth.

But I see the Truth.  I see Him now.  I see Him in the face of my children, I hear Him in their voices, in their laughter.  I see Him in the warm light of the morning sun, which rises directly through the window in front of me.  His Word speaks calmly and wisely to my spirit.  The more I learn, the more I desire to learn.

There is no end to the Word of Truth.  The Word of Truth is like an infinite number of truths, all of them connected to all of them.  Imagine one scripture that you read and understand.  Then, later you understand another scripture, and in your understanding of it, you realize that it is directly connected to the scripture you previously understood.

You continue to read, and you gradually understand more and more, and reading for months and years, you see that all scripture is connected to all scripture, that more connections are established as you read more and more, until if the scriptures were mere points in space, they would connect into a solid sphere of light, with no part of that lattice of connectedness unlit by the pathways connecting the Words.

This is the Living Truth – a light unto the World, giving life to all who pursue it.  In it there is no darkness at all.

Love, then, is the key to life.  That is my calling, and yours if you follow Him.  Yahusha had the power and the authority to do whatsoever he liked in the face of satan and his servants.  They are wicked beasts of human beings, those who reject Yahusha.  Some quite likely in your life, perhaps in your own family.

Turn your face from them.  Face Yahusha, and let Him be the light that shines from within you.  Love those wicked haters who spitefully use you.  Though it might seem impossible to conceive of a way to do so, yet Yahusha knows exactly the path whereby His love can connect to the wicked, calling them into the very light of The Truth, connecting them to Him, to you, and to every man and woman who is His.

Just as Yahusha said “I and the Father are one”, so are we one with Him when we love the loveless in His name.

Life in the Spirit
Rom 8:1  There is therefore now no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to flesh, but according to Spirit.
Rom 8:2  For the Law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus set me free from the law of sin and of death. (like the “law” of gravity, sin [disobedience to Torah] leads to death. – “(KJV) Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. i John 3:4 – jd)
Rom 8:3  For the Law being powerless, in that it was weak through the flesh (we don’t want to obey), Yahuah, sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and concerning sin, condemned sin in the flesh,
Rom 8:4  so that the righteous demand of the Law might be fulfilled in us, those not walking according to flesh, but according to Spirit.
Rom 8:5  For the ones that are according to flesh mind the things of the flesh. And the ones according to Spirit mind the things of the Spirit.
Rom 8:6  For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace;
Rom 8:7  because the mind of the flesh is enmity towards God; for it is not being subjected to the Law of God, for neither can it be.
Rom 8:8  And those being in the flesh are not able to please God.
Rom 8:9  But you are not in flesh, but in Spirit, since the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone has not the Spirit of Christ, this one is not His.
Rom 8:10  But if Christ is in you, the body indeed is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
Rom 8:11  But if the Spirit of the One having raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, the One having raised the Christ from the dead will also make your mortal bodies live through the indwelling of His Spirit in you.

Its Easy To Serve The Satan – Just Be Yourself.

Faithfulness.  Loyalty.  Fidelity.  These are on my mind heavily today.

My mother told me decades ago that I was “loyal to a fault.” At the time I was a teenager, maybe 18 or so, and didn’t quite catch her drift, so she explained to me that I was loyal to my friends even when it was not in my best interest to be that loyal.

But after many decades of contemplation, I still believe that loyalty, faithfulness and fidelity are the cornerstones of integrity.  Certainly they are the three legs of righteousness, because who among us can be simultaneously righteous and unfaithful?  Not possible.

But back in the days when my mother told me that, I was not Natsari.  In fact, if there was a “god” I had no use for him.  Girls, booze and fighting were my companions.

I had several good friends, too.  Don Russell, Gary Hill, Scott Smith and Don Dean were all great friends and we had a GREAT time together.  Over the years I also developed really strong bonds to Katherine “Kate” Mason (an Okie, but still great 🙂 and Melissa Bryan.  My sister, Laurie, was also a close friend.  Maybe the closest, but she had her friends and I had mine and we seldom hung out together.  We were too busy burning off the stress of growing up in the deeply troubled family that we grew up in.

These days, I find that fewer and fewer people are faithful to anything or anyone.  I know a person who is close to me that is the most consistent liar I have ever known.  Lies are created with every exhaled breath.  Faithlessness is a concept that this person cannot grasp, because being faithful is diametrically opposed to lying. One cannot be both a liar and faithful, because faithfulness, fidelity and loyalty all require exceedingly high levels of integrity.

Integrity is a cool word.  Integrated; whole; complete; solid and sound.  Integrity is what grinds us up into small bits when we are caught between selfishness and loyalty.  When one is loyal, then necessarily comes pain as some event or person will act in some way detrimentally to the object of your loyalty.

Example – I have a friend that I met when we were about 13 years old.  We met in a gang fight at church camp, and by the time we were in high school he and I were great friends.  I respected him because he had courage that very few men have.  But he was wild; wilder than me and I was wild, too.  Whenever we goth together, we always had some amazing stories to tell each other, and we did this for decades.

But something happened to my friend.  He seemed to drift into a special kind of hell.  My path took me to holiness and fierce loyalty to Yahuah, standing for Him in the face of constant ridicule and criticism.  Yahuah put my loyalty to good use, and I thank Him for it.

But my friend never possessed a love of the Truth.  He simply could not separate from the world, and he got into drugs rather heavily, including meth.  He was in his late fifties, and kicked out his wife and kids.  He lost his house, wrecked his Lexus and all the while he is telling me that he did not have a drug problem.

About 18 months ago I was talking to my old friend on the phone, listening to his latest batch of excuses and denials.  That is when I decided that tough love was the only thing I had left, and I gave him a big dose of it.

Have you ever noticed how people seem to hate the truth?  They hate the person who tells it, too.  The truth sets us free, you see, and people prefer the prison of lies that build around themselves.  Same with my old friend, Herc.

He got really angry with me, hung up on me like a hysterical child, and sent me a looooong text message, which I simply deleted unread.  I have never heard from him again, and I worry about him.

I said the tough things to him because I am faithful to him.  I am his one actual friend, and I stand by my friends.  He was one of my own, and if he ever gets over himself and receives the love of the Truth, he will discover that I am still his one true friend.

He turned his back on me, and he might never realize that I was firm with him specifically because I love him.  It had to be done.  Someone close to him had to tell him the truth, even if it meant losing him.  The truth sets us free.

There is another man that I had to speak truth to, and this time it was to one I loved as my own son.  He calls himself a brother, a “Christian” and he can often quote scripture.  He has often told me how deeply he holds his love for “God”, and it was always very good to hear those things from him.

But I noticed that he lacked faithfulness on a number of occasions.  Not sinful, necessarily, but things he did which showed me where his mislaid priorities were.

Then he moved quite a distance away, and started with the tattoos.  In spite of the Word of Yahuah commanding against marking our bodies, this fellow plows right ahead because “god knows his heart”.  Indeed, and a wicked one we all have.

But what really knocked me off my perch was the text he sent me boasting of the number of times that he “shagged” a woman he recently met.  I was stunned that he would be so callous and crude as to send me such a record.  What kind of person would send such an indictment to a man like me?  So I texted him back, leaning into the conversation and standing square on the Word.

I was threatened with violence by him.  Not that it frightened me.  People who threaten me make me smile on the inside for multiple reasons.

He told me that I was ‘insane”, this tattooed christian shagger, because I teach that we must actually obey the commands of Yahuah, and that we will obey Him if we are saved.

But the tattoos and the shagging were talking and eventually I had to just end the conversation.  That was many weeks ago, maybe two months, and I am glad that I terminated the conversation because it says right here in my Holy Bible “you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother, but who is sexually immoral…”

So there it is.  He is outside the faith, boastfully unfaithful to the “god” he claims he follows, but very faithful to the prince of this world, who tells all humanity that we need not obey the commands of Yahuah, that we can do as we please even when Yahuah SPECIFICALLY FORBIDS IT.

Its easy to serve the satan – just be yourself.

“He’s Not Like Us” Thus The Righteous Perish

Dear Brothers and Sisters, this is my first communication since the refining of my subscriber database; the separation of the wheat from the tares. Yahuah did call me out of the world, very powerfully.  He did radically transform me from hating Him to yearning to be with Him. As one “christian” leader in my local church commented privately to a mutual and respected friend,  “He (referring to me) is not like us.” In the subsequent two years since that comment was made, his actions proved repeatedly that he is false to me; not my friend and not my brother.

Wonderful Video On The Commands Of Yahuah

This is a good video presentation on the obedience to the commands of Yahuah.  The one glaring omission is defining “sin” for people, which in 1 John 3:4 is stated “sin is transgression (violation) of the law.”

That one simple scripture is a vital key to understanding that the things we consider normal and healthy, such as celebrating Christmas as the birthday of Yahusha or considering Sunday to be the Sabbath day, are in fact sin.  Significant sin because we are mixing the holy with the profane, which is another command.

Ezekiel 44:23 – “And they shall teach my people the difference between the holy and profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean.”

That which is unclean is unholy, and if it is unclean, we are not do do it.  The profane is that which desecrates the holy, or which shows contempt to Yahuah.

Definition of profane

profaned; profaning

transitive verb
1 : to treat (something sacred) with abuse, irreverence, or contempt : desecrate

So you see, everything of Yahuah is holy and is to be treated reverentially.  Nothing of the world is holy, and is never to be mixed with that which is holy or clean.

Do You Think You Know What Sin Is?

Sitting in Sunday School this morning, our teacher asked everyone to turn to 1st John, chapter three, verse four.  I love this scripture, as it defines what sin is.  Let me ask you, before you go further, what is sin?

Its clearly defined for us.  My Pastor said “We should believe what Jesus says about the Word of God”., and he is right.  My Pastor also said “When we contradict Yahweh, we blaspheme Him”, which is also true.

So what is sin, brothers?

Most people in your church, including you, likely do not know.  Our Pastors teach continually the necessity of “not sinning”.  We all know sin = bad.  We all know we are sinners, yet as Paul said, we do continually obey our flesh and deny our minds, ultimately we sin.  But sin can be avoided, because Yahuah tells us plainly each sin.  In writing.
