Just a note: I am looking at a “Member Access Only” process. I do not know If I can directly import current subscribers into that software, and manually adding them will be arduous because there are many.
I will keep you posted as this develops. It is possible that I will decide against it, but as things get increasingly taught with the beast system, exclusive access might be the best path. Risk to me is also a concern. I am less concerned about pure numbers of subscribers and more attracted to quality subscribers. I prefer subscribers who have high rates of engagement (read what I write) and who comment on a good percent of my posts.
If you have ideas or suggestions, please post them in Comments. I value your input.
I’ll join and pay, if need be.
Jerry – I like the idea, and I understand your preferences… however, I’ve a couple of thoughts… First, I’ve been reading your posts for quite a few years now – since 2019 I believe. Your site has made a great deal of difference to me, and it’s one of the few site on the ‘net that I look at most days. After all, when I started reading your posts, I was a medium-warm Anglican Orthodox priest; now I’m Natsari, committed, and pretty hot. Even arguing with the ecumenicals at the ministry about the Torah. ‘can never, ever thank you enough, brother. But that’s not my point, exactly. In three or so years, I’ve only posted a few times. Why? Well, I’m learning, and it takes awhile – sometimes quite a few days – to read and vet the required information, by which time the discussion has moved on. And frankly, in m opinion, my comments are usually pretty plain. I don’t generally want to inflict them on others. So… if you screen by number of… Read more »
Alan, your post is great. You made me laugh, and I sure appreciate that. Membership, if I do it, wouldn’t be based on anything other than an email address. A “Subscribers only” deal. It does seem to be counterintuitive, restricting access, but anyone can gain access anytime they want to, just by registering. Some people won’t like that, and I understand why. But for the truly paranoid like me, there is Mail.com for totally bogus email accounts, and Cyberghost for quality and free VPN service, and Brave Browserfor additional anonymization.
I personally don’t think it would make any difference. If you are using technology, any technology, it is still their system. It is how they play ‘God ‘.
Membership would only exclude the basic layer, not the deeper layers. IMHO
🙂 xx
I really don’t know how it would work out, Kate. Maybe its just an experiment with new technology because sometimes I like to do that. But on the other hand, it also seems like it might purify the readers here by distilling access to those who are most interested. I would rather have few readers who are more keenly interested in this information that more readers who are just “passing through” on their way to a different google search. I think. Maybe.
Shabbat Shalom! Well, almost anyway. I’m resting between prepping. I will try to comment more, but have appreciated all you share. Shalom, Kathleen
lol. well, ok. Comment when you can. Prepping is way more important. 🙂
