You

You and I are probably much alike.  I work, am married, raise my kids, pet my dog, wash and maintain my truck, hunt when I can, go to see movies with my wife and kids when I have the spare cash.  I read, a keep up with the news.  I have a couple of friends that I rarely see, and I barbecue and smoke cigars in my back yard.  I exercise, and I love back-packing.

More of this is coming, and it will come to America. Are you prepared with God?

So we are similar, but not identical.  You do many of the same things.  You sleep well some nights, and not so well other nights.  You probably wish you weighed a few pounds less, but its not that important.  You wonder whats going on with the government, and who is going to straighten out the mess that we are in.  You hope that this “mess” can actually be straightened out, but in the corner of your heart, you suspect that we are slipping off into the abyss.

The World Is Dying

When you discuss the problems we face, you realize that they are getting a lot worse, and that they are coming at a much faster pace.

  • IRS Corruption.
  • And much more…

Clearly, your concerns are valid.

Add to these very serious problems (and they are exponentially worse, deeper, and more threatening to our national stability than you know) your own personal problems.  Your spouse might not love you.  You might not love your spouse.  Maybe you struggle with drug addiction or lust or hatred.  Maybe you are financially broke.  Maybe your health is going from bad to worse.  Maybe you are scared almost to death and don’t know what to do, or even if you should do something at all.

I’d like to let you know that I have personally struggled with almost every sin, every failing that a man can have.  I have hated, lusted, fought, stolen, lied, feared and almost anything else you can imagine.  I once lived in a very dark place.  I was a bitter man, angry, selfish and I hated God.  I even tried to be an Atheist, but failed at that, too.  I could not honestly claim that I did not believe a ‘god’ existed.  I thought that probably there was a god somewhere.

But I shook my fist toward heaven and cursed Him.  I wanted Him to stay away from me, and I knew for sure I would stay away from Him.

You Believe In God

You probably believe in a ‘god’, too.  Maybe you believe in the Christian God.  Maybe you even believe in Jesus.  But if you do claim to “believe in Jesus”, what exactly does that mean?  Does it mean that you can walk on water like He did?((Mat 14:24 But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.
Mat 14:25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.
Mat 14:26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.
Mat 14:27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.
Mat 14:28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
Mat 14:29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.))

You know, I have actually attempted to walk on water before, and I failed every time.  That’s become my litmus test when Christians begin to sound over ‘spiritual’ around me.  I have no problem saying something like “That’s great, Bob.  It all sounds good, but tell me, can you walk on water?”

And the person will always laugh, thinking I am joking.  But they quickly see by my unchanging expression that I am, in fact, serious.  I want to know if their faith is great enough to walk on water, and because they must confess to me that it is not, it tends to deflate their holy balloon.

And that is a good thing.

The point is that you are no better or worse than anyone else.  We humans are a somewhat pathetic bunch.  Sure, God does love us.  He made us and refers to us as His “Masterpiece”.((Ephesians 2:10New Living Translation (NLT)
10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Note: 2:10 The result of salvation is that we are His workmanship—the handiwork of God, not of ourselves. A born-again believer is a masterpiece of God. When we think of the raw materials He has to work with, His achievement is all the more remarkable. Indeed, this masterpiece is nothing less than a new creation through union with Christ, for “if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2Co_5:17).
And the object of this new creation is found in the phrase, for good works. While it is true that we are not saved by good works, it is equally true that we are saved for good works. Good works are not the root but the fruit. We do not work in order to be saved, but because we are saved.))

What Does God Want?

So the question to ask is this: What does God want from you?

The answer is simple, and very easy to deliver.  He wants all your heart, all your mind and all of your soul.  Thats all.

Please let me tell you how to do that.

Following God is the most liberating, peace-giving choice one can make.  Giving God all of you does in fact seem impossible, but the reason it seems impossible is because we evaluate that process in purely human terms.  We do not see any possible way whereby giving God our entire being is possible.  It simply cannot be done.

And we are correct.  It is impossible in human terms.

But we are dealing with the spiritual transformation of a human being here, and in that realm, it is possible and happens every day.

The key is this: One must pursue the Lord.  One must seek Him in prayer, which is quite easy.  Just talk to Him.  You won’t impress Him with anything but being humble.  Please, don’t try to pass yourself off as noble and righteous.  He knows all about your lust and greed.

He wants you to read His Word, and for that I do recommend the King James Version (KJV) of the Holy Bible.  There are some others that are good translations, but the KJV is very easy to read and understand, even though it dost speaketh in wierdeth wordests sometimes.  The translators were mid-1000’s English, so they slipped in some of the Kings English.  But the translation is outstanding in that it is solid, true and contains all the correct genders, references to God and more.

That’s about it.  Just pray with the Lord every day.  I pray all the time, even sometimes when I am on the toilet.  I don’t get real Holy or sanctimonious with my relationship with Him.  He made me, he designed and built my digestive tract.  I won’t pretend that using the bathroom is something that separates me from God.  Only sin separates us from Him.

Pray and read His Word.  Just believe it.  The Holy Bible is the most amazing book on earth.  There is nothing more life-changing than a good relationship with God, and nothing so simple as believing the Word.

The world is slipping into hell all around you, and there is only one single way out of the fire.  Only one.  Join Jesus.  Pray.  Read.  Believe.
